  2. I have done a lot of research; Frank Capra only won 3 Oscars; how does the NY Times calculate 6?

  3. To answer my own question, from the Academy's site: he only won Director 3 times, but he also won twice for Best Picture (aka Best Production), and once for Best Documentary.

  4. Hi there,

Frank Capra did indeed only win three Best Director Oscars. However, he also won two Oscars for Best Picture (1934, 1937) and one for Best Documentary (1943).

    Hope that helps.
