The official name of Brunei is the Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace. Brunei is situated on the island of Borneo, almost completely surrounded by Malaysia. Brunei’s government is dictated by the constitution adopted in 1959, and is ruled by a sultan with full executive authority. The main language spoken in the country is “Melayu Brunei” (Brunei Malay), with the official language being Malay. Apparently Malay and Brunei Malay are quite different from each other, with native speakers finding it difficult to understand each other.

Borneo is the third largest island on the planet (after Greenland and New Guinea), and is located north of Australia in Maritime Southeast Asia. Most of the island is part of Indonesia (taking up 73% of the island) with almost all of the remainder being part of Malaysia (26%). The final 1% is home to the sovereign state of Brunei.

    I did this puzzle outside this morning. I can barely see my laptop in front of me because of all the smoke from the California fires blowing into Las Vegas. California can keep its smoke to itself!

  2. 12:36…on a Thursday?? Me?? I have to wonder, in spite of a mini-renaissance of vinyl records, how many people know what a “B-side” is, or for that matter, what it means to sound like a broken record?
