Answers to the New York Times Crossword
I am very behind on my puzzles, but the clue to 20 across is simply WRONG. T’ai Chi is a Chinese art and the instructor would be called, “Sifu”. “Sensei” is a JAPANESE title.
Thank you for your comment, “Anonymous” :o)
To be honest, I had never heard of the term “sifu” so I appreciate your “lesson” here. I agree with you 100%, that this clue is not worded correctly. I think that especially here in the US an instructor in Japanese martial arts might incorporate T’ai Chi into his practice, so perhaps the term Sansei might apply, but here in the NYTimes crossword, we should go for “purity” in our clues :o)
